John
Machlan has been a professional goldsmith since 1967. He learned
his trade through traditional apprenticeship, as well as earning a BFA
from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from the
Cranbrook Academy of Art. Having spent the last forty years
working within the traditional jewelry industry, he now devotes his
time to the manufacture of art objects of his own design and to
providing encouragement and instruction to students who seek to benefit
from his experience and skill.
